For the Fondness of Fondue

Isn’t the thought itself mouth-watering? Well, that’s what fondue is all about. However, fondue does not just limit it’s deliciousness to cheese. Other two most famous types of fondue known worldwide are  chocolate and an Asian hot-pot type where meat is cooked in oil or broth.

Tracing back its origins the word “fondue” comes from the French verb fondre, meaning “to melt.” The dishes popularity made it the Swiss national dish. Soon fondue became famous worldwide and was served in various countries, the cheese and the chocolate ones being the most famous. In broth-based fondues, food is cooked in a simmering broth. Reputed to have been invented by Mongol warriors, Mongolian hot pot was probably the original broth-based fondue. Over a period of time, various innovations have been made to this classic dish its base remaining the same.

Fondue is ideal for all occasions. Be it an evening party, or a mini family/friends get together, this amazing delight can be rejoiced anytime. The comfort of gooey cheese with bread or luscious melted chocolate and cake squares and fruits is a comfort you can just not deny. Another fascinating fact about fondue is that it hardly takes time to prepare, making it amongst one of the most favourite last minute dishes.
