Quick questions with Ashrita:
1. Do you try to time lunch, dinner and breakfast or do you eat when you are hungry?
I always time my breakfast and lunch. Dinner is usually dependent on how the day goes work wise.
2. What is your take on organic foods, is it a big deal to you?
I had never been able to decipher why Organic food was such a big deal, until recently I started looking more closely at what I was eating. I started reading the labels of all the food that I was purchasing and was truly baffled at the amount of Sugar that is passed off as Carbohydrates into our system.
3. Do you eat out often? When you do, what’s your strategy to make sure you’ll still be eating healthy?
I eat out a lot, given that I do a lot of restaurant reviews. But I try to eat my salad completely and eat only a couple of bites of every dish that is served to me. When I am not reviewing and I go out to eat, I make sure I order mains which consist of a protein of some kind, along with vegetables. I try to steer clear of the carbs. No more mashed Potatoes for me!
4. If you could have any four people, from anywhere in place, over for dinner, who would they be?
My Brother, my Boyfriend, my bestie Rashi who is all the way in Singapore and Bradley Cooper. Yep.
5. Which is the most out of the world food dish you have had in Mumbai?
This question is a little difficult to answer with respect to restaurants, with the ever changing menus and food festivals, so I will pick my staple- Babu Vada Pav outside Parle Tilak Vidyalay, Vile Parle E.
6. A restaurant which you frequent often and would recommend to our readers? Please rate the restaurant with respect to food, ambience, rates and staff friendliness.
I am somewhat regular at Yauatcha in Bandra Kurla Complex. I recommend this place to every person who says they love Pan Asian Food. I think they do justice to their food, and the ambiance is happy and positive. I would rate the restaurant as follows:
Food: 4.5/5
Ambiance: 4/5
Rates: 3.5/5
Staff Friendliness: 5/5
7. What inspired you to start your own blog and how do you find time to maintain it?
Blogging for me was a happy accident. I started my blog because I wanted to maintain a journal of what I was cooking when I was abroad for my professional studies. What started as a simple diary has now turned into something that makes me feel nostalgic, happy and proud all at the same time.
