The Cricketers Broke So Many Hearts!

No, we aren’t talking about all the lost matches and poor performances! We are speaking truly of hearts! Since 2010 every year at least one of the most eligible bachelors of the country (cricketers) are getting hitched. The weddings and the story behind them are truly mesmerizing but yet it has broken hearts of lots of maidens!! With Rohit Sharma being the latest one to get engaged to his long time girlfriend we go to the flashback and have a look upon who else we lost to their beloved wives !! *Sniffs*

Mahendra Singh Dhoni With Sakshi Dhoni (2010)
This Indian Cricket team captain got married to Sakshi on July 4, 2010 who was a school of him. Within a day of his engagement to Sakshi Rawat, Dhoni couldn’t wait anymore and got married at Vishranti Resort which is around 25 kms from Dehradun. The down to earth nature of Dhoni made the ceremony simplistic in nature and the menu Indian. Noted players and members of BCCI like N Srinivasan, R P Singh, Suresh Raine and Harbhajan Singh were present!

Following the captain’s footsteps Gautam Gambhir, captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders got married to Natasha Jain on 28th October, 2011. The wedding was planned by Meher Sarid which took place at a farm house in West End Greens in Gurgaon. The wedding was lavish yet very intimate with Robert Cavalli theme inspired design at their cocktails. The actual wedding was based on a Floral theme and a Fleur-de-lis sequenced motif. The flowers were imported all the way from London, Thailand & Holland. The dinner spread included Indian, Thai and Continental delicacies specially put together by Meher Sarid and each table had a menu card for personalized service. The celebrities who attended this wedding Virendra Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh with his parents, Rahul Dravid, Ashish Nehra, Ishant Sharma, Munaf Patel, VVS Laxman, Juhi Chawla and Jay Mehta, Rajiv Shukla and Arun Jaitley.

You can call them the couple who met on Facebook. Yes, it all started with a friend request. The couple was engaged for a long time (since 2009) and then got married in Vasant Kunj Gurudwara in South Delhi on October 30, 2012. The ceremony took place as per Sikh wedding customs. The ceremony again was a simple one and was attended by Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Harbhajan Singh, Ravichandran Ashwin, Cheteshwar Pujara etc.

S. Sreesanth with Bhuvneshwari Kumari (2013)

This former tainted pace bowler of Indian cricket team got married to Bhuvneshwari Kumari who belongs to a royal family hailing from Jaipur. Sreesanth got married at the famed Guruvayoor Sree Krishna temple in Kerela and had his reception was held at Le Meridien, Kochi. The couple aso got married in rajasthani style in Jaipur followed by a grand wedding reception at the same venue. The couple got married after a 6 year long affair and had met in 2006 in Jaipur when he arrived in jaipur to play for India. The wedding ceremony was a glitzy affair, with celebs from the film, music and political circuits flocking the venue. But what surprised all those who attended the function was that, not even a single person from the Indian cricket fraternity attended the wedding!

Like Dhoni, Ajinkya Rahane also got married to high school friend Radhika Dholvkar in Pune on 26th September, 2014. Theirs is an arranged marriage (as claimed by the couple!) The marriage ceremony was very intimate and the reception was held in Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) at BKC. Shortly after their wedding the couple left for their honeymoon in Bali.

Suresh Raina and Priyanka Chaudhary were childhood friends and tied the knot on April 3, 2015 at The Leela Palace, Delhi. The couple got engaged at Raina’s Ghaziabad residence and the pre-wedding ceremonies started on April 1. The wedding was lavish, marvelous and a starry affair. Those among the present at the wedding were MS Dhoni and wife Sakshi, Virender Sehwag and wife Aarti, N Srinivasan and a lot more from the cricket fraternity. There were big names from the bollywood and politics too like Anupam Kher, Zarine Khan, Akhilesh yadav, J. M Scindia. Also were present Raina’s teammates from Chennai Super Kings! The menu consisted of delectable Lakhnavi Flavours starting with Kababs and ending with Biriyani. He specially called khansamas from Tunday Kababi to make his wedding menu a delectable one!

Rohit Sharma’s proposal to Ritika (May, 2015)

Yes, he is not married yet! But this Mumbai Indian’s skipper is soon to get hitched as he recently got engaged to his long time girlfriend Ritika Sajdeh. Rohit Sharma proposed to Ritika at the Borivali Sports Club in Mumbai this May!! He has known Ritika for the last six years and she has worked as his manager.
