Indian Cricketer KL Rahul and Bollywood Actress Athiya Shetty tied the knot on 23rd January in Suniel Shetty’s Khandala farmhouse. The wedding was attended only by the family members and close friends of the couple. A total of 200 people were present to attend the auspicious ceremony, 100 from the Indian Cricketer’s side and the other 100 from the bollywood actress’s side.

Kannanur Lokesh Rahul (born on April 18th, 1992) made his International debut for India in 2014 against Australia in Australia. In just his second test, he smashed a century in Sydney in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2014/15. He represents Karnataka in domestic cricket. He began his IPL career for Royal Challengers Bangalore as a wicketkeeper in 2013. Sunrisers Hyderabad bought KL Rahul in 2014 only to get back to RCB in 2016. Currently, he is the captain of Lucknow Super Giants. He was also Indian Cricket Team’s vice captain.

KL Rahul became the first player from India to score an ODI century on debut against Zimbabwe in June 2016. In addition, he was also the first batter from the state of Karnataka to score a triple century in the Ranji Trophy. Moreover, he was awarded the Cricketer of the Year award in 2018 by Wisden Almanack.

Bollywood veteran Sunil Shetty’s daughter Athiya Shetty (born on November 5th, 1992) began her film career with ‘Hero’ starring Sooraj Pancholi in 2015. In just her first film, she won the Hottest Pair, Most Promising Debut Jodi and the Best Jodi of the Year all shared with Sooraj Pancholi.

She starred in ‘Mubarakan’ as well alongside Arjun Kapoor and Anil Kapoor in 2017, ‘Nawabzaade’ starring Raghav Juyal in 2018 and ‘Motichoor Chaknachoor’ starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui  in 2019. She studied at the Cathedral and John Connon School. Later, she shifted to American School of Bombay where she participated in school plays alongside Shraddha Kapoor and Tiger Shroff.

The pair dated for four years keeping the initial period of their relationship secret until they finally made it official in 2021. KL Rahul’s heart-filled birthday post for Athiya Shetty was enough for the fans to know that love was blooming between the two.

The very same year, NUMI Paris, the Paris luxury brand signed them up as brand ambassadors. They also showed up at the premiere of Tadap (2021), which is Ahan Shetty’s debut film. This was also their first public appearance together.

The pre-wedding festivities began with a cocktail party that was held at Suniel Shetty’s Khandala farmhouse.

The Haldi and Mehendi ceremonies kicked off on 22nd January.

Finally, the much awaited wedding took place on 23rd January. KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty tie the knot and begin their new journey in sight of their loved ones. After the wedding ceremonies concluded,  Suniel Shetty informed the media that the wedding went well and was attended only by close family members. There will be a reception as well which will take place after this year’s IPL 2023.

Athiya Shetty donned a pink chikankari lehenga while KL Rahul was styled in heavily embroidered ivory sherwani by the same designer, Anamika Khanna.

The designer also wished KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty over an Instagram post.

One week later, Tania Shroff, Ahan Shetty’s girlfriend, posted few pictures from the festivities. They can be seen posing with the couple, all smiles.

There were a few reports that claimed MS Dhoni gifted KL Rahul a bike worth 80 lakh/-. Moreover, Indian Cricketer Virat Kohli and Actress Anushka Sharma also gifted the couple a BMW car worth 2.7 crore/-.  However, Suniel Shetty clarifies that the media reports were false and stated that the information is “baseless”.
