Lehenga Styling Ideas for To-Be-Brides who Love their Curves

It gets difficult to find good bridal lehenga designs for all sizes as there are only a few designers who focus on them. So here we have tried to bring together some good ideas for you to check out. After all, “It’s all about that Bass”.

Here are some Lehanga Styling Ideas for To-Be-Brides who Love their Curves

1. Light Floral Lehenga Designs

Recently, Sabyasachi became one of the few designers to share a design perfect for curvy brides. He designed this wedding dress which went viral on Instagram with lakhs of views. The bride, Dolly Menghani here is seen in a gorgeous curve-friendly, floral print design which makes her look gorgeous. The white background with the blush, sea green and red of these modern blooming designs help celebrate feminity. Minimal Jewellery takes attention to the eyes. Go for this kind of design if you prefer a sombre design to the over-embellished ones.

2. Anarkali and Large Gheras Work Better in Lehenga

A lehenga which gradually increases in size at the bottom end looks great as they make the whole body look taller. The blouse can cover the midriff and the lehenga should start at the right point as per your body. Or you could flip the idea on its head and actually go for a fish cut gown but with a fluffy tail like in the second image.

Comedienne Bharti Singh walked the ramp for designers Shefali and Ashish for their fall/winter bridal collection. The collection was inspired by the galaxy and was titled ‘Me Midnight Empress.’ She walked gracefully in a heavily embroidered lehenga which was paired with a layered tail.

Her bridal look was completed with red bangles and a choker on her nail. On being a plus-sized bride, Bharti said ‘People will stare, make it worth their while’. According to the Shefali and Ashish, their muse ‘fired up the ramp’.

3. Choose a Comfortable Fabric For Your Lehenga

Weddings involve a lot of moving around so you should definitely choose a fabric which is soft and not stiff. Fabrics like georgette or silk work better than chiffon and satin. Stiff fabrics also make the body bigger than it actually is.

4. Pick a colour based on your skin tone

Choosing bright colours may not be a good choice as they end up visually adding on too much. Shades of white, ombre and sky blue work well. Another trick that designers use is to use bright colours and the parts of the body which they want to attract attention to.

Recently at Kapil Sharma’s wedding reception, Bharti wore a blue gown with silver embroidery. She completed the look with platinum chains.

5. Avoid Short Sleeves

Longer sleeves on the blouse right above the elbow or a three-quarter one work better. The large flowing dupatta can be draped in an exciting way to accentuate your arms.

6. More Inspiration For Lehenga

Instagram sensation Nabela Noor recently got married and gave serious wedding goals with stunning pictures to prove the point. She went for a blue Anarkali with traditional motifs.

She absolutely slayed in her wedding gown. The large fluffy lower part of the gown accentuates her figure matches the flow of her luxuriant hair. The husband who looks like an Arabian prince is also not to be missed!
